Foundation
This is a one-year, intensive, full-time course which provides an introduction to the understanding of and general practice in art and design prior to degree course applications.
Fine Art Painting
We encourage students to develop their own visual language - figurative, abstract or conceptual, and always to explore both the historical and contemporary contexts of their work.
Fine Art Sculpture
Within the sculpture department we aim to equip students with the practical, technical and critical skills which are relevant to contemporary sculptural practice.
Historic Carving
The carving courses prepare students to work as professionals within the disciplines of wood or stone carving, enabling graduates to replicate ornament, reinstate elements of figurative sculpture or create new works.
Conservation
The Conservation Department offers a unique combination of traditional craft skills and state of the art scientific analysis for training in the conservation and restoration of three dimensional works of art and artifacts.
Humanities
We believe that a knowledge of art-history and the articulation of its ideas and critiques illuminates all studio study, and that the acquisition of skill in written and spoken language is important for every student.
Drawing Studio
The School sees drawing as fundamental to the visual arts. The Drawing Studio focuses on the role that observational drawing plays in stimulating and facilitating the development of artists and craftsmen.
