Jane de Sausmarez's Basic Colour
Basic Colour: a Practical Handbook Published by A & C Black for the Herbert Press)
Basic Colour is an indispensable guide to colour mixing and colour theory. It is a practical resource and a permanent reference.
Logical, easy-to-follow diagrams - tonal charts, complementary scales, colour-wheel exercises and colour tricks – will help students, artists and designers to understand and appreciate colour and its relationships and thereby expand readers' colour vocabulary.
Jane de Sausmarez teaches colour theory and practice in the Conservation Department. She began her career teaching drawing at Hornsey College of Art, where she met her husband, Maurice. For 35 years she taught Printed Textiles and Colour Theory at Goldsmiths College and has also taught at many other art schools, including the Central School of Art and the Byam Shaw School of Art. For over 10 years she has also run intensive colour workshops for students and professionals from her London home.
