Robert Randall


Wood Carving


Robert Randall trained as a woodcarver at City & Guilds of London Art School. He has since worked on a wide range of commissions and national heritage projects. His original and restoration work can be seen at several Wren churches in the City, Shakespeare’s Globe at Southwark, the Geffrye Museum, St Paul’s Cathedral and churches and schools around the country.

Education:

  • 1988-1990 Diploma in Cabinet-Making and Design, London College of Furniture, London
  • 1994-1997 Diploma in Ornamental Woodcarving and Gilding, City & Guilds of London Art School, London

Other:

  • 2008 Supervisor on Woodcarving Training Programme run by the Butrint Foundation, South West Albania
  • Since 1990 Workshop Tutor at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London

Selected Work:

  • 2005 Stations of the Cross, original design, carved in Japanese oak for St Magnus the Martyr Church, London Bridge, London
  • Since 2006 Replicas of 15th, 16th and 17th century carved furniture for the Geffrye Museum, London
  • Since 2002, Carved copies of 16th century furniture and sculpture for stagings of Shakespeare’s plays at the Globe Theatre, London
  • 2008, Large wall carving of St Michael and the Dragon, original design, for St Michael’s Primary School, Heavitree, Exeter
