“In 1997 I started drawing with the marks + and – , as signs by which I could flirt visually with the impossibility of nothing in concept and presence. In the + and - drawings, I present a proposition that nothing is a permanently fixed space of wonderment and the drawn line an act that can be seen to arrest the moment, to become a permanent mark rendered by the transitory act of being.
I call the 3d works “walk in drawings”. Made out of MDF as bare forms the structures are redolent of architecture and everyday furniture. They have no surface histories but guide the eye and physical presence of the viewer through space”
