I was born in Germany in 1965. Still in school, I already wanted to become a restorer: I travelled to Gdansk in Poland to have a close look at the very impressive conservation and reconstruction efforts to raise the destroyed city again. Nevertheless, I decided to study History of Art, German Literature and Philosophy first and finished 1989 with an M.A. in Hamburg. For more than 15 years I am based in London and have a family with three children. I have worked on history of art and in the art trade, but only since last year I am back to my conservation plans and enrolled at the City and Guilds College. This summer I enjoyed a work experience at "Carvers and Gilders" at Battersea working on 18th century gilded furniture. For the summer 2010 I am looking forward to an internship in the stone department of the British Museum.
