My work is fundamentally about life and death and what happens to us after we die. Many ancient tribal people also believe in the eternity of life and in the afterlife. There are many different themes and issues that I am interested in and which I try to weave into my work such as loss, absence and mourning. The collection and gathering of material is an important aspect of my work, just as in the way that birds and animals collect and gather material to build their nests. The cultures, and especially the dwelling places of tribal people which are extinct or near extinct, are of interest to me. I am interested in the ancient past because I feel that ancient man/humans used to live in rhythm with nature, which he/they respected. I feel that this ancient knowledge offers us a way forward in dealing with some of the problems that confront us in the 21st century.
