Liminal Beings

Liminal Beings are archetypical creatures that combine more than one distinct state of simultaneous existence within a single physical body, symbolising both the wisdom and the danger of a multiple nature. As a development of this concept, the liminal personae in my work can represent somebody or something of a mixed, hybrid nature, falling into a bareness of predicates - the openness of Agamben’s in-fancy as the origins of the human condition. By using materials and techniques of the Late Gothic period, I am also suggesting an intimate connection between the ‘then’ and the ‘now’, in parallel to my formal questioning of contemporary iconography.
