It is a sense of a possible or restricted transition between two imagined spaces that I am interested in creating in my artwork. Through the construction of intensely shallow spaces, made of architectural elements and their surface qualities, I aim to represent personal emotional body states and internal fears and desires. My practice explores the surface of a painting as a threshold to be built up and worked back into in an archaeological manner, revealing a history of time spent in the studio while making the viewer aware of the act of painting as a process of pre-determined decision making and of an acceptance of the outcome of unconscious action
