In response to the sense that our contemporary global culture is becoming ever more rapidly unhinged, I offer my current series of paintings as a place of reflection on a paradigm that, with both grace and horror, is dimming, unraveling and running itself into the ground. As suggested by a collapsing economy and immeasurable ecological devastation, a civilization driven by consumption, distraction and political and economic greed is struggling to hold.
Working with the fluid and unpredictable qualities of paint, my work presents snapshots of urban and natural environments that hint at dissolve and degeneration, thus destabilizing conditioned perceptions of certainty, permanence and progress.
