Tiana Leakey

My work is inspired by a salt refinery that sits in the vast emptiness of a soda lake at the southern end of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya. The reduction and editorial nature of the work plays an important role. Balancing the image by juxtaposing abstraction and fluidity with compositional, structural devises such as pipelines, electricity pole and buildings enables the viewer to be drawn into the landscape and led across it into the distance. I want to evoke a sense space, stillness and the ambiguous nature of the landscape.
