The City & Guilds of London Art School is seeking applications for a Conservation Technician: Books & Paper to join the team in our thriving and recently expanded Conservation Department.

We are inviting applications to support the newly established Books & Paper Conservation BA and MA awards. In 2020, the Art School doubled the size of the Conservation Department with new facilities to house books & paper conservation to run in parallel with our longstanding course that focuses on the conservation of cultural artefacts made of stone, wood and objects with decorative surfaces. We are delighted to be working with leading experts on the delivery of this new subject area and to have benefited from significant sponsorship from trusts and foundations and the gifting of specialist equipment from University of the Arts London who recognise this new course as an important legacy for their work in supporting Conservation expertise from the 1960s to 2019 when their department closed.

The post is 2 days per week during BA term time, with some flexibility. The main purposes of the post are:

  • – To assist the Head of Conservation and Conservation tutors in the day-to-day management of the conservation studios.
