COURSE OVERVIEW
Discover the art of mosaic making, exploring different materials, colours and techniques to create your own mosaic. Suitable for beginners and intermediate makers, the course will introduce you to the tools and skills needed to cut and arrange tesserae, develop a composition and and develop your own creative approach to this ancient craft.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course will begin with a brief introduction to mosaic tools, materials and techniques, including how to cut and shape tesserae and work with different materials. You will then choose a design from a selection of prepared options and be guided through the process of creating your own mosaic, from selecting and cutting tesserae to arranging and fixing them in place.
The project will introduce you to the fundamental principles of mosaic making, exploring how colour, shape and the direction of the tesserae can influence the final image. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, the course will provide you with practical skills and an understanding of the process, giving you the confidence to continue exploring mosaic making in your own time. You will create a mosaic measuring either 20 × 20 cm or 30 × 30 cm, depending on your chosen design.
What is included: all teaching, tools and materials needed to complete your mosaic. If you would like to incorporate any specific or specialist materials, such as gold tesserae, these will need to be purchased separately.
