A unique community of artists, makers, conservators and researchers, united by a shared commitment to creative practice, material knowledge and critical enquiry.

At City & Guilds of London Art School, you’ll become part of a vibrant postgraduate community that brings together students from Fine Art, Carving, Conservation and Conservation: Collection Care & Management.

Studying within the Graduate School means benefiting from both the specialist expertise of your chosen discipline and the wider perspectives of students and tutors working across different fields. Through shared conversations, critical debate and opportunities for exchange, you’ll encounter new ways of thinking about making, materials, objects and their place in the world.

Specialist expertise, shared perspectives

Our postgraduate courses combine advanced practical and technical study with research, critical reflection and professional development. Whether you’re developing an independent artistic practice, advancing your skills as a carver, or exploring the conservation and care of cultural heritage, you’ll be encouraged to question established approaches, pursue your own interests and develop the confidence to shape your future practice.

As a specialist art school, we place particular value on learning through direct engagement with materials, processes and objects. We believe that practical knowledge and critical thinking are inseparable, and that traditional skills and contemporary approaches can inform and challenge one another.

A community of practice

Develop your ideas, deepen your expertise and discover new perspectives within a postgraduate community that brings together artists, makers, conservators and researchers.

Founded in 1854, City & Guilds of London Art School has a long history of supporting artists and makers through specialist education. Today, our Graduate School builds on that heritage, creating an environment in which contemporary art, craft, conservation and research can develop alongside one another.

You’ll be encouraged to engage with the wider cultural, social and environmental questions shaping your discipline, and to consider the responsibilities and opportunities of professional practice.

Above all, the Graduate School offers a supportive and intellectually ambitious community in which to develop your ideas, deepen your expertise and establish connections that extend beyond your studies.
