Congratulations to 3rd year BA (Hons) Carving: Architectural Stone student Hope Chapman on winning the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants Award for Historic Carving.
Hope is pictured with our Principal Dr Lois Rowe and the Master of the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants, Lucia Di Stazio, in recognition of this achievement.

Hope has consistently produced outstanding work throughout her first and second years of her degree, and is now midway through her final major project: an interpretation of a lion clutching a shield, based on a cast of a late 15th-century monument in the V&A.
Over the summer, she developed a full-size clay model and has since carved sample elements before progressing to her final piece. This work, alongside her lettering and other carving projects, will be displayed at this year’s Degree Show.

Our Principal, Dr Lois Rowe, delivered a speech as Guest of Honour at the event. We extend our thanks to the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants for their continued support of our students and our work.
