Last term, our 3D National Saturday Club members began a five-week glass course with Glass Tutor Anne Petters and former Artist Glass Fellow and BA Fine Art Alumna Mils Bridgewater.

The course kicked off with a visit to the V&A Museum, where Anne and Mils took our members on a captivating tour through the history of glass, from its ancient origins in Mesopotamia to contemporary glass art.

After an introduction to the Art School’s Glass Studio, our club members sculpted their own clay models, with influences ranging from sparkling diamonds, to delicate roses, to cheeky little mice. These creations became the foundation for their glass artworks.

Using intricate 3D glass casting techniques, students cast their sculptures, carefully cut glass to fit each mold, and fired their pieces in the kiln. After a final polish and clean, the results were outstanding. The final works were a testament to the creativity and dedication of our club members and the fantastic guidance of Anne and Mils.
