Whether your ambition is to create new work in historic contexts or to restore sculpture and ornament, your aesthetic and historical knowledge will be as important as your woodcarving skills. On this carving course, you’ll develop a wide range of enhanced skills and will graduate fully equipped to begin a successful career in carving.
GRANTS AND BURSARIES
We offer a great range of grants and bursaries to students studying on our woodcarving and gilding degree course. Bursaries vary in size but typically fund around 30 to 50% of the course fees and are awarded on the basis of need – find out more or contact admissions@cityandguildsartschool.ac.uk
DIPLOMA OF HIGHER EDUCATION
The two-year Diploma of Higher Education Carving: Woodcarving & Gilding, covers the same specialist syllabus as the first two years of the BA (Hons) programme. This provides a good alternative option if you would prefer to study for a shorter period or want to enhance existing woodcarving skills and knowledge. Find out more about the Diploma of Higher Education on an open day or email us at admissions@cityandguildsartschool.ac.uk
COVID-19
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we are strictly adhering to the Government’s safety guidance and going a little bit further, with extensive measures in place to enable social distancing and safety procedures to be carried out effectively. At the same time, we have worked hard to ensure our students have as much access to our facilities as possible and we continue to prioritise studio practice, one-to-ones and small group tutorials, which are so integral to our approach.
“At a time of such uncertainty and unrest the Art School has dealt with everything with incredible integrity and diligence ensuring the well being of all who attend and work on campus. The quality of the teaching is outstanding. It is clear that it is a place that is well loved and run by a very dedicated and passionate team of professionals.” Joanne Grogan, 1st year, BA (Hons) Carving: Woodcarving & Gilding
