I am an artist from Sri Lanka. At the start of my education I studied engineering and worked in the field of Materials Engineering. I also worked in the fields of Architecture, Interior Design and Landscaping. In parallel to my career, I sustained an interest in art, and made a number of art works. My current work is mainly sculptural, and explores the notion of the self portrait through the form of the mask. The work aims to address self awareness; consciousness about my own thoughts; and my thoughts about mortality and death. The intention is to provoke an insight into not only physical death, but also the idea of psychological death. I aim to encourage the possibility of a dialogue between viewer and art work- to create a channel of communication through which to investigate the nature of death and mortality.
